Ouzoud Waterfalls Guide: How to Visit from Marrakech
Ouzoud is one of Morocco’s best-known waterfall destinations and a popular full-day escape from Marrakech. The journey is longer than a trip to Ourika, but the scale of the falls and the walking routes make it a very different experience.
Where are Ouzoud Waterfalls?
Ouzoud is northeast of Marrakech in the Middle Atlas region. It requires a substantial road journey, so most visitors treat it as a full-day trip rather than combining it with other major attractions.
Walking and viewpoints
Paths lead between upper viewpoints and the lower area near the falls. Surfaces can be uneven and may be slippery in places, so closed footwear with grip is preferable.
Boat rides and macaques
Small boats may operate near the base depending on conditions. Barbary macaques are often seen in the area. Avoid feeding or handling wild animals and keep food secured.
Food and what to bring
Restaurants and cafés are available around the site. Bring water, sun protection and an extra layer in cooler periods. Confirm whether lunch, a guide or optional activities are included in your booking.
Private vs group
Private transport offers more control over stops and return time; group excursions follow a set schedule. See the Ouzoud Waterfalls day trip from Marrakech.
