Morocco's tallest waterfalls
The Ouzoud Waterfalls drop 110 metres in a series of cascades through a red-rock gorge — the tallest falls in Morocco and one of the most striking sights within reach of Marrakech. On sunny days rainbows hang in the spray, and troops of wild Barbary macaques move through the olive groves around the top.
A path winds down through the terraces to the base, where small boats take you close enough to feel the mist. You can walk down, ride the boat, spot the monkeys and have lunch at a terrace restaurant looking straight out at the falls. It's more active than a coast day but hugely rewarding — bring comfortable shoes.
What you'll do
Morning hotel pick-up
Leave Marrakech and drive northeast through olive-growing country toward the Middle Atlas.
Arrive at Ouzoud
Reach the falls mid-morning; the sound arrives before the view does.
Walk down to the base
Descend through olive terraces to the foot of the cascades, meeting Barbary macaques along the way.
Boat beneath the falls
Optional short boat ride that brings you into the mist at the base — expect rainbows on a clear day.
Cliffside lunch & return
Lunch on a terrace facing the falls, then the drive back to Marrakech, arriving early evening.
